Hypersomnia-- Excessive sleepiness believed to be caused by the central nervous system and may be associated with difficulty in awakening. click here for more information

Insomnia-- Described as difficulty falling asleep, no problem falling asleep but difficulty staying asleep (many awakenings), waking up too early, or Sleep State Misperception. click here for more information

Narcolepsy-- A chronic sleep disorder characterized by overwhelming daytime drowsiness and sudden attacks of sleep. click here for more information

Restless Leg Syndrome-- A condition marked by unpleasant leg sensations at bedtime. Restless leg syndrome frequency leads to insomnia. click here for more information

Sleep Apnea-- A disorder of breathing during sleep, typically accompanied by loud snoring. Apnea during sleep consists of brief periods throughout the night in which breathing stops. People with sleep apnea do not get enough oxygen during sleep. click here for more information

Sleep Terror-- A sudden episode of intense terror during sleep that usually occurs within the first third of the night. Partial or total amnesia occurs for the events during the episode. click here for more information
